PARISH COUNCIL

The Parish Council generously supported the installation of heritage statues by the Green Group and the establishment of this insightful website. They initially provided the necessary funds, which were later reimbursed by the UK government, ensuring the project’s successful completion.

Additionally, the Parish Council covered the costs for the webpage domain and hosting from June 2025 until June 2028. We are deeply grateful for their invaluable contribution and commitment to preserving our village heritage.

A shield-shaped community emblem, featuring a sun rising over the rolling green hills of the Wolds, an illustration of St Andrew's Church tower, and brown ploughed fields in the foreground below the text "Middleton on the Wolds".
The official Middleton on the Wolds village shield, designed by local artist Pippa Simpson.

The design process began during the village’s Platinum Jubilee preparations in the summer of 2022, when local organisers realised that Middleton on the Wolds had never historically possessed its own logo. In response, the Parish Council commissioned a brand-new emblem to mark the historic royal milestone.

The final double-sided village shield was designed by teenage resident and local artist Pippa Simpson. Her striking design features bold, vibrant colours that beautifully celebrate the local landscape, depicting:

  • A radiant rising sun
  • The rolling green hills of the Yorkshire Wolds
  • Deeply ploughed agricultural fields
  • The historic tower of St Andrew’s Church

The completed physical shield was officially erected later that winter in December 2022, and a digital graphic file of the official emblem remains preserved for community use.
